This book is a �People�s History� of the Second World War in the counties of Durham and Northumberland. From preparations for war in 1939 to Victory in Europe and Japan in 1945, over 200 photographs show evacuations, air raids, the Home Guard, the Land Army, munitions and other wartime workers as well as members of the Armed Forces of the two counties.
